Therapy Dogs International, Inc. is an organization dedicated to the regulaton, testing, selection and registration of qualified dogs and handlers for the purpose of visitations to hospitals, nursing homes and facilities or any place where therapy dogs are needed.
The AKC started the Canine Good Citizen Program as a means of rewarding dogs who were well-behaved companions at home and in the community. The goals of the Canine Good Citizen program are to teach responsible dog ownership and provide basic training and good manners to dogs.
